Navarro Gallery

613 King Street West

20th Century Art & Design

At his King Street West gallery, Roberto Navarro has personally organized numerous exhibitions over the past twenty-two years. He gives no indication that he’s planning to stop anytime soon.  With the sprouting neighbourhood and warm weather bringing many more people out, Robert Navarro is experiencing a sunny summer season and sees an even brighter future for his art gallery and business.

His passion has always been 20th Century art and design, illustrating his wide range of interests, including: Josef Hoffmann graphic studies, furniture and objects, Canadian Artists working in Mexico 1930 – 1970, as well as solo exhibitions of major Hungarian Avant Garde artists.

One of his particular obsessions is Venetian glass. Over the years he has formed a fine collection, important enough to be shown in Canadian and Italian museums. Navarro has over 30 years of experience as an interior designer working on projects both locally and internationally and is known as a familiar King West resident, having lived in the area for almost thirty-five years.

“I’ve waited a long time to see this kind of activity here,” he said, while motioning towards the busy sidewalk in front of his store.

Navarro opened his first gallery in 1978, as a result of his experience as a collector and dealer in Paris, following with Navarro Gallery in Toronto. He remains at his original location, offering a wide selection of vintage 20th Century furniture, lighting, ceramics, glass, textiles and fine art for those searching for the perfect unique piece, collection or one-of-a-kind treasure.

His formal training was at the Ecole des Beaux Art in Paris and his project portfolio varies from large scale international airport projects, hotels, condominiums and office planning to smaller scale residential design work. The scope of services he provides includes design consultation and concept, materials, finishes and furniture selection, construction documentation, project management and site supervision.

His broad range of services at Navarro Gallery may be tailored to suit any design project or individual’s requirement.
