THE BOSS COMES to the ROGERS CENTRE

By on

Bruce Springsteen - The Wrecking Ball - Toronto

Rogers Centre

1 Blue Jays Way

Sports and Entertainment Centre

Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band will bring their sold-out show to the Rogers Centre in August. If it’s a typical Toronto summer night the roof might be open, adding to the bright, electric atmosphere. The band’s outdoor stadium shows usually include a display of fireworks. And there should be fireworks. Recently, the Recording Academy named Bruce Springsteen its MusiCares person of the year for 2013.

As a venue, the Rogers Centre is one of the best for this type of spectacle. And a spectacle it will be! All told, about 50 or 60 tractor-trailers with the band’s gear, lights, sounds, cameras, and other stage equipment will make their way into and around the Centre for load-in and tear-down days before and after the event.

Add to that the huge number of people needed to set-up and manage the concert. This is one massive show to stage, and not every venue can handle that. The sold out concert means 55,000 fans will flood into five-levels of seating. But no worries. The Rogers Centre staff is used to big crowds, sold-out games and huge concerts.

Rogers Centre in Toronto

Most of this summer’s events at the Rogers Centre hosted the Blue Jays. The Argos started their season with a few home games. There was also a special game when the Toronto FC hosted the team from Liverpool (England) in July. Sports teams and concert promoters love the venue. One of its best attractions is the giant screen just above centre field. At 110’x33’, it is one of the biggest in the world, so fans will be treated to seeing the show on stage, and on the big-screen.  Springsteen is a favourite draw every time he comes to Toronto and again, fans won’t be disappointed.  This show will really rock!

So will the entire Entertainment District. Before and after the show fans will flock to area restaurants, bars, and clubs. Some may want to venture up to the CN Tower’s 360 Restaurant for a bird’s eye view of the city, and the action down below. You’ll likely  see all of those big trucks being loaded up as the roadies start to tear-down the massive stage and equipment.

The Boss may be leaving town, but you won’t want to.
There’s too much to see and do in King West Village.
