Hollywood North shines with serious star wattage this month. Celebrities that shine include Ryan Gosling, Halle Berry, Johnny Depp, Marion Cotillard, Keira Knightley, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Ben Affleck landing on King West’s streets for the Toronto International Film Festival (September 6-16).

If you’re looking to rub shoulders with the celebs or just want to take in all the buzz, here’s the goods on some of the best places to see and be seen:

LUNCH WITH THE LUMINARIES

You can’t really get much closer to the stars than the elegant Luma Restaurant (330 King Street West), situated on the second floor of the TIFF Bell Lightbox—and in close proximity to TIFF’s Green Room.

Accommodating busy film types during TIFF, Luma is offering a special two courses Quick Fixe for $34, which includes their Sugar Fix to Go of Luma caramel corn, spiced peanuts and chocolate pop rocks. And if you ask, they’ll give you a nudge to let you know your film is about to start.

CELEBRITY COCKTAILS

The swanky Ritz Carleton Hotel (181 Wellington Street West) is a mainstay for celebrities (Brad Pitt stayed here last TIFF). But if you can’t afford the keys to the penthouse, visit TOCA Bar for a pre or post-film cocktail. The trendy bar features a tapas-style menu with an option of seating. Order their Mary Pickford cocktail ($12) and take a seat on their outdoor patio overlooking the film galas at Roy Thomson Hall, or sit in the lobby and watch the action unfold.

DOWNWARD DOG WITH THE FAMOUS

After a hard night of partying, and downing free champagne, the stars need to rinse all those toxins out of their body. Grab your yoga mat and head to the Thompson Hotel (550 Wellington Street West) where the 889 Yoga + Wellness Spa offers over 20 yoga classes each week.

Flow in the sunlit eco-inspired studio on the 3rd floor of the Thompson Hotel and follow it up with a visit to their spa for a Luxury Therapeutic Facial (Gwyneth Paltrow approved!)

STAR SPOTTING OVER PIZZA

Nab a table on the patio, and don your shades for some prime star spotting at Paese (333 King Street West). Situated across from TIFF Bell Lightbox, this relaxed trattoria features authentic Italian food (like their Funghi pizza with roasted mushrooms, thyme, fontina and white truffle oil) and an impressive wine cellar with over 800 labels.

EXCLUSIVE ACCESS TO BOLD-FACED NAMES

You’ll definitely need to work your connections for this one! Anyone who’s anyone will be seen at the members-only Soho House (192 Adelaide Street West), which opened its new permanent location just in time for TIFF. The club is housed in what was one of Toronto’s first hotels, a building dating back to the 1800s and completely restored. Emily Blunt, Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt kicked off TIFF festivities at ‘The House’ after the opening of their film, Looper.
