SPRING INSPIRATION at LA MERCERIA CAFE and HOME ACCESSORIES SHOP

When one steps inside the Argentinian cafe and shop, nestled in the King West neighbourhood at Portland and Adelaide, its fresh interior is as welcoming as spring itself. La Mercería serves a selection of specialty coffees alongside Argentinian treats and delicacies at the front of the store where bright sunshine pours through large windows onto wooden tables topped with fresh cut flowers.

For a more intimate conversation, patrons may prefer to sip their macchiatos in the cozy room offered to the side of the store where a pillow-covered bench lines one wall.

La Mercería, which translates as ‘craft store’ in Spanish, also sells a unique collection of high quality home decor accessories that range from delightfully scented cleaning products to kitchen towels to wooden utensils. This season, their current products encourage patrons appreciate that only a few small touches of spring can uplift a home after a drab winter.

These unique glass jars would look beautiful set upon a kitchen counter where they could be filled with any variety of cooking staples. Alternatively, their unique design makes them a lovely addition to a living room shelf for a clean, fresh look.

Since 2007, the husband and wife owners – Sandra-Rojas Chinni and Marcelo Chinni – have encouraged visitors and residents of King West to appreciate what they call the ‘daily pleasures’ of living in their unique cafe and shop.

Open Monday to Friday 7:30am to 7pm, Saturday 9am to 6pm, and Sunday 9am to 5pm.
