King West Sandwiches Just Like Mom Used to Make

Sometimes I just want a sandwich.  I think back to the days my mom would prepare and pack my lunch. There was always some type of sandwich alongside a couple of tasty, healthy snacks. It’s rare to find a place that will make you a sandwich that tastes homemade and goes overboard with the toppings.

Reggie’s Old Fashioned Sandwiches does just that, and they have the perfect side-sandwich treats that round-out your lunch.

I ordered the Fresh Roasted Turkey sandwich ($8.41), made with lettuce, cranberries, herb mayo, and (you guessed it) mouthwatering turkey roasted to perfection.  Reggie’s uses fresh meats and toppings. Without asking, they don’t skimp on the meat.  What impressed me was that the turkey wasn’t dry in comparison to over-the-counter shaved deli meat sandwiches.  The mayo and cranberries played nicely together between the lettuce and fresh bread, allowing the taste of the turkey to prevail.

On the side, I ordered their famous Fried Mac ‘n’ Cheese ($5.75).  We all grew up eating this familiar staple. You can’t go wrong when you transform one of the most simple dishes by deep frying it into fingers of warm, gooey, cheesy goodness. Finally, I couldn’t resist the massive, freshly baked cookies cooling on the counter ($2.86). They were huge, soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside, and full of chocolaty goodness.

Reggie’s is one of those places where you’ll discover quiet on a Saturday afternoon. But the joint is jammed at 3am on a Friday night, or any weekday lunch-hour. You can’t stop someone when they want a real sandwich!

Reggie’s Old Fashioned Sandwiches is open Monday to Sunday, 11:30am to 5:00am.
