Congratulations! You are now an official condo owner, and will soon be living the good life in the heart of the Entertainment District at King Blue
. Moving into your first condo is definitely a memorable life event, and no doubt you’ll be most excited to turn the empty shell into home sweet home.
We’ve enlisted the interior experts at King Blue to share their top suggestions for new condo owners. Here is Sarah Tremblay, Furnishings, Fixtures and Equipment Manager at renowned interior design firm Munge Leung
to share her tips for embracing your style and make the best choices and purchases for your new condo.
Invest in Good Lighting
Having the ability to control lighting in your condo can really affect the move of the space and how you feel in it. As your condo will come with its standard architectural lighting, Tremblay says investing in portable light fixtures it a great idea. She recommends pendant lighting, table and floor lamps to customize the light levels throughout every room of your suite at King Blue.
Splurge on Statement Pieces
Think about how you will be using your condo and what rooms will be high traffic. From there Tremblay says you can decide on what pieces to devote a good chunk of your decorating budget to. Be sure to invest in quality, classic items that will stand the test of time and won’t go out of style. Think of your sofa or coffee table as key statement pieces, as well as quality or maybe even one-of-a-king pieces of art to add visual interest and focal points in your space.
Think about Built-in Storage
Tremblay says a good storage system is the best way to maximize urban condo living, and many furniture companies are now manufacturing condo friendly pieces that are truly multifunctional. Consider a bed frame with storage drawers underneath to keep clothing, and shelving units with cubbies and cupboards to neatly hide away electronics and books.
Choose a Bright, Fresh Colour Palette
A bright and fresh colour palette will allow for decorative flexibility in your King Blue condo. Go for neutral paint colours and materials that will expand the space and allow eye to flow. Tremblay says statement pieces and artwork will really stand out, and the neutral palette will give you the freedom to easily update accessories and add furniture when it’s time for a change.
Add Layers and Texture
One of the best ways to add visual depth and interest to any room in your condo is with a variety of layers and textures, says Tremblay. Carefully choose drapery, area rugs, pillows and throws made of rich fabrics, patterns and prints that will add a pop of colour to the space and give a warm and inviting feeling.
